Hailing from Inner Mongolia, China, Heili “The Mongolian Knight” Alateng, 27, was one of the winners at “UFC Fight Night 157,” which is also known as “UFC on ESPN+ 15.″ It was his first victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Featuring 11 professional mixed martial arts bouts, “UFC Fight Night 157” took place at the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Centre Arena in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China on August 31, 2019. In the second bout of the evening, Alateng competed in the bantamweight division against Batgerel Danaa, 30, of Ulaanbaatar City, Mongolia.
Steve Perceval served as the referee. After three five-minute rounds, the contest was left in the hands of the three judges, who all scored it 29-27.
In the end, Perceval raised the hand of Alateng, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision. The bantamweight bout between Alateng and Batgerel was declared the Fight of the Night so each of them won $50,000 bonuses.
Winning at “UFC Fight Night 157” improved the professional MMA record of Alateng to 13 wins, 7, loss and 1 draw. On the other hand, Danaa now has 6 wins and 2 losses.
Eight countries were represented at “UFC Fight Night 157” namely Brazil, China, Japan, Mongolia, New Zealand, Russia, South Korea and the United States. Alateng was one of the six representatives of China while Danaa solely represented Mongolia.
Both Alateng and Danaa made their UFC debut at “UFC Fight Night 157.” The Chinese fighter is training out of the UFC Performance Institute in Shanghai, China while the Mongolian fighter is training out of One Team Fighting Center in Ulaanbaatar City.
Alateng was born in China on December 14, 1991 and he has been competing professionally since 2013. Before joining the UFC, he competed in Real Fight MMA Championship, Ranik Ultimate Fighting Federation, Chinese Kung Fu Championships, Kunlun Fight, ONE Championship, WBK, Wu Lin Feng and Road Fighting Championship.
In the main event of “UFC Fight Night 157,” “Magnum” Zhang Weili, 30, became the new UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion, making her the first ever UFC champion of Chinese descent. She dethroned defending champion Jéssica “Bate Estaca” Andrade, 27, of Parana, Brazil via a first-round knockout.
In the co-main event, Elizeu “Capoiera” Zaleski dos Santos, 32, of Curitiba, Parana, Brazil and “The Leech” Li Jingliang, 31,of Xinjiang, China competed in the welterweight division. The Chinese contender knocked out his Brazilian opponent via punches in the third round.
