Carlos Diego Ferreira, 34, of Careiro da Varzea, Amazona, Brazil was one of the winners at “UFC 242.” It was the undefeated Brazilian mixed martial artist’s seventh victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

On September 7, 2019, the UFC was at The Arena in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates for “UFC 242,” which featured 13 MMA matches. In the ninth bout of the evening, Ferreira fought Mairbek “Beckan” Taisumov, 31, of Grozny, Russia in the lightweight division.

Herb Dean served as the referee. After three five-minute rounds, the flyweight contest was left in the hands of the judges, who scored it 29-28, 29-27 and 29-27,

In the end, Dean raised the hand of Ferreira, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision. Prior to the victory, the Brazilian fighter said fighting Taisumov would get him to the Top 15.

Winning at “UFC 242” improved the professional MMA record of Ferreira to 16 wins and 2 losses. On the other hand, Taisumov now has 7 wins and 2 losses.

Including Brazil and Russia, 13 countries were represented at “UFC 242.” The others were Canada, England, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Japan, Morocco, Scotland, South Africa and the United States.

Ferreira was one of the three fighters who represented Brazil while Taisumov was one of the seven representatives of Russia. Before facing Taisumov at “UFC 242,” Ferreira defeated six opponents in the UFC namely Colton Smith, 32, of Virginia, United States; Ramsey Nijem, 31, of Utah, USA; Olivier “The Canadian Gangster” Aubin-Mercier, 30, of Quebec, Canada; Jared “Flash” Gordon, 31, of New York, USA; Kyle “The Monster” Nelson, 28, of Ontario, Canada; and Rustam “Tiger” Khabilov, 32, of Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia.

In the main event of “UFC 242,” reigning UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov, 30, of Makhachkala successfully defended his belt from then reigning interim UFC Lightweight Champion Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier, 30, of Coconut Creek, Florida, USA. The Dagestani champion submitted his American challenger via rear-naked choke in the third round.
