The world seems to be too small for Miss International 2016 Kylie Versoza and Miss Universe Philippines 2016 Maxine Medina. The two co-star in ABS-CBN series “Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Los Bastardos.”
Versoza plays a villain named Dulce Silverio in “Los Bastardos” while Medina’s character Francesca Elizabeth “Isay” Navarro is one of the protagonists. While filming a scene for the ABS-CBN series, the former spat on the latter although it was not in the script.
“There was an apology that happened on set,” Versoza told ABS-CBN News. “Right after, we talked with Max and everything is okay already. Pareho kaming okay (We are both okay).”
“Nag-taping na kami (We did taping already) [after the spitting incident],” Versoza continued. “Gumawa pa kami ng ang dami-daming eksena (We did too many scenes together) [afterwards].”
“Los Bastardos” is set to end in two weeks. Versoza explained that she just got carried away by her emotions while playing Dulce Silverio in the ABS-CBN series.
“Especially now, (we have) last two weeks na lang (only),” Versoza said. “Emotions are so high. Scenes are so intense.”
“Kontrabida po ako so minsan nadadala talaga sa eksena, (I play the villain so sometimes, I get carried away by the scene),” Miss International 2016 explained. “You can’t help it. Minsan, may extra slap, sampal. Nasasaktan talaga (Sometimes, there is an extra slap. Physical hurt is inevitable).”
After the incident, Versoza and Medina unfollowed each other on Instagram. Before “Los Bartados,” the two competed in Binibining Pilipinas 2016.
On April 17, 2016, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, 29, crowned Medina as Miss Universe Philippines 2016 during the Bb. Pilipinas 2016 coronation night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. In the same event, Miss International 2015 semi-finalist Janicel Lubina, 24, crowned Versoza as Miss International Philippines 2016.
On October 27, 2016, Versoza competed against 68 other women from around the world in Miss International 2016 at the Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Miss International 2015 Edymar Martínez, 24, of Venezuela crowned Versoza as her successor.
This made Versoza the sixth Miss International from the Philippines. On the other hand, Medina was not able to bring home the crown when she represented the country in Miss Universe 2016.
On January 30, 2017, Wurtzbach crowned Iris Mittenaere, 26, of France as Miss Universe 2016 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City, Metro Manila. Meanwhile, Medina finished in the Top 6.
