Khamzat “Borz” Chimaev, 25, of Sweden continued his brilliant run in Brave Combat Federation’s welterweight division with a second-round submission of Mzwandile Hlongwa, 29, of South Africa in the main card of “Brave 27.” The undefeated Swedish-Chechen mixed martial artist took his destiny into his own hands by calling out newly crowned Brave CF Welterweight World Champion Jarrah “The Jordanian Lion” Al-Selawe, 26, of Jordan.
Chimaev is training out of Allstars Training Center in Stockholm, Sweden. Winning at “Brave 27” improved his professional MMA record to 6 wins and 0 loss.
Brave CF held “Brave 27” at the Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on October 4, 2019. In the main event, Al-Selawe was successful in his rematch against then reigning Brave CF Welterweight World Champion Abdoul “The Conqueror” Abdouraguimov, 23, of France.
Right after Al-Selawe’s victory, he was surprised as Chimaev barged in the cage. Earlier in the night, the Allstars Training Center representative had already expressed his wishes of fighting for the Brave CF welterweight title after yet another dominant performance.
It was the first time for Chimaev to go to the second round inside the Brave CF. He used his world-class wrestling to maintain his dominance of Hlongwa before putting the South African fighter to sleep with a D’Arce choke.
After the post-fight interview of the “Brave 27″ main event, Al-Selawe gave space for Chimaev to be interviewed by commentator Phil Campbell. The All Stars gym product kept things respectful even though he asked to take the new Brave CF Welterweight Champion’s Jordan flag as a sign of respect between both competitors.
“I want the belt and Jarrah has it right now,” Chimaev stated. “It will be a great fight.”
After that, Brave CF president Mohammed Shahid confirmed that was the fight to make. No timeline has been given for the bout to take place, the fans can now look forward to yet another amazing showdown between two of the promotion’s top welterweights.
