ONE Championship will hold a two-part event titled “ONE: Century 世紀” at the Ryōgoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan on October 13, 2019, marking the martial arts organization’s 100th live event. In one of the two co-main events of the first part, Igorot mixed martial artist Danny “The King” Kingad, 24, of the Philippines will compete in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix grand final against Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson, 32, of the United States.

A former UFC Flyweight Champion, Johnson trains at Evolve MMA in Singapore and AMC Pankration in Kirkland, Washington, USA. Kingad trains out of Team Lakay in La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines.

Kingad and Johnson had their official face-off during the “ONE: Century 世紀” press conference at the Park Hyatt in Tokyo, Japan on October 10, 2019. It was attended by ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong and ONE Championship Japan president Andy Hata.

“To the ONE Championship CEO and Chairman, Chatri, to the media, to my fellow martial artists, and the millions of fans around the world, thank you,” Kingad stated. “I’m happy to be back here again and competing in the most important match of my life. It is an honor to represent my country, the Philippines, and I am glad to be here with my Team Lakay family.”

“I’m excited to showcase Filipino martial arts talent to the American audience,” the Igorot MMA fighter continued. “It’s a dream come true to share the ONE Circle with a legend in Demetrious Johnson but I believe I have the chance to beat him. If I beat him, it will be the greatest accomplishment of my career.”

This will be ONE Championship’s second event in Japan. The Singapore-based martial arts organization’s chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong named the event “ONE: Century 世紀” because he wanted to “signify the greatest martial arts event in the last 100 years.”

The first part will be broadcast live in the United States via TNT and B/R Live. It starts from 9:00 a.m. JST on October 13, 2019 or 8:00 p.m. EST on October 12, 2019.

The second part will be broadcast live across more than 140 countries worldwide and streamed to 2.6 billion potential viewers through the world’s largest television networks. It starts from 5:00 p.m. JST on October 13, 2019 or 4:00 a.m. EST on October 12, 2019.
