Pioneer Works and Ace Hotel New York have announced the release of the double LP album “Love Will Find a Way Home” by PAT, a duo formed by visual artist Jacolby Satterwhite and musician Nick Weiss, one-half of Teengirl Fantasy. The album release party will take place at the Liberty Hall of Ace Hotel New York in Midtown Manhattan, New York, United States on October 21, 2019 from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m.
PAT takes its name from Satterwhite’s mother Patricia Satterwhite, who suffered from schizophrenia and died in 2016. She left behind hundreds of a capella recordings on cassette tapes as well as abstract drawings of home goods, such as wet wipes, sugar cubes, and toothbrushes.
Jacolby and Weiss incorporated Patricia’s recordings into their work. PAT remixed and manipulated Patricia’s voice into propulsive, electronic dance tracks featuring a range of other collaborators.
The resulting album “Love Will Find a Way Home” contains a deluxe hardcover gatefold LP. It comes with a book that features two vinyl LPs, a heavy-duty board gatefold jacket, printed inner LP sleeves, a high-resolution Bandcamp download code and a 34-page color artist book.
“Love Will Find a Way Home” is inspired by projects like the feature-length animated film “Interstella 5555” by French electronic music duo Daft Punk formed in Paris in 1993 by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, and “Maxinequay,” the debut album of English record producer rapper and actor professionally known as Tricky. “Interstella 5555” was released with the artists’ recording “Discovery.”
Like “Love Will Find a Way Home,” “Maxinequay” is based partly on Tricky’s relationship with his deceased mother Maxine Quaye. The upcoming double LP album of PAT coincides with Jacolby’s Pioneer Works exhibition You’re at home, which opened on October 4, 2019 and remains on view through November 24, 2019.
