“No. 1” Nguyễn Trần Duy Nhất, 30, of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam has earned his second victory in ONE Championship’s striking-only league ONE Super Series. Representing Hochiminh City Muay Team, he was one of the winners at “ONE: Edge of Greatness.”

Featuring four Muay Thai matches and seven mixed martial arts matches, ONE Championship held “ONE: Edge of Greatness” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore on November 22, 2019. In the third bout of the evening, Nguyễn competed in a Muay Thai match in the flyweight division against Yuta Watanabe, 29, of Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan.

Olivier Coste served as the referee. Nguyễn came out to a blistering start as he knocked Watanabe down twice in the first round.

Just moments into the second round, Nguyễn connected on a head kick that ended matters instantly. Coste put a stop to the contest after 30 seconds in the second round when the Vietnamese fighter knocked out his Japanese opponent.

Winning at “ONE: Edge of Greatness” improved the professional Muay Thai record of Nguyễn to 12 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw. On the other hand, Watanabe now holds a professional Muay Thai and kickboxing record of 29 wins, 11 losses and 3 draws.

Including Vietnam and Japan, 14 countries were represented at “ONE: Edge of Greatness.” The others were Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Singapore, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Training out of Eiwa Sports Gym, Watanabe was one of the two fighters who represented Japan. Nguyễn solely represented Vietnam.

Nguyễn made his ONE Super Series debut  “ONE: Immortal Triumph” at the Phu Tho Indoor Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City on September 6, 2019. He defeated Azwan Che Wil, 24, of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in a Muay Thai contest in the flyweight division.

Dom Lau served as the cage announced at “ONE: Edge of Greatness” while Michael Schiavello and Mitch “The Dragon” Chilson were the commentators. Here is a recap:
