Team Lakay’s Stephen Loman to become 2-division BRAVE CF champ?

Training out of Team Lakay in La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines, Stephen “The Sniper” Loman, 23, is the longest reigning champion of BRAVE Combat Federation with four successful title defenses. One of the possible next steps for the Igorot mixed martial artist is to become a two-division champion.

Loman’s fourth successful title defense took place at “BRAVE CF 30″ at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, Telangana, India on November 30, 2019. In the main event, the Team Lakay representative defeated his challenger Louie “Leonidas” Sanoudakis, 30, of Canada via unanimous decision.

Many BRAVE CF fans would love to see Loman go up to featherweight for a second division belt. The reigning BRAVE CF Featherweight World Champion is Bubba “Bad Man” Jenkins, 31, of the United States.

But for Loman, extending the record for most title defenses in BRAVE CF is more important than adding a second divisional world title at least in the immediate future. He said, “I think about moving up, yes, but not right now.”

“I’ll go back to the Philippines and keep training and improving for my next title defense,” Loman continued. “There are many good fighters in my weight class and I need to be on point to defeat them. I want to keep going and extending that record.”

Loman is one of the three MMA fighters to ever defend a BRAVE CF belt. The first one was Elias “Smile” Boudegzdame, 26, of France who successfully defended his BRAVE CF Featherweight World Championship title from Jakub Kowalewicz, 26, of Poland at “BRAVE CF 10: The Kingdom Rises” on March 2, 2018 in Amman, Jordan.

But on September 21, 2018, Boudegzdame was dethroned when he lost his belt via unanimous decision to Jenkins at “BRAVE CF 16” in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. On March 15, 2019, the French-Algerian fighter went down to bantamweight to challenge Loman at “BRAVE CF 22” but failed to dethrone the Igorot champ.

Next to Loman, Jenkins is the BRAVE CF champion with the second most title defenses. On September 25, 2019, the American champion successfully defended his BRAVE CF Featherweight World Championship belt from Lucas “Mineiro” Martins, 31, of Brazil at “BRAVE CF 24” in London, England.
