Over October dropped its surprise debut album “Press Play” on November 29, 2019. This is after months of building up the hype around social media and teasing the fans with two singles “Alive” and “Without Your Love.”
Formed in October 2014, Over October is a pop/alternative rock band composed of Josh Buizon on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Josh Lua on lead guitar, Janessa Geronimo on the drums and Joric Canlas on the bass. They released their first five-track EP “Free” in 2016 followed by two singles “Never Stop” in 2017 and “Wait” in 2018.
The “Press Play” album is the type of music people put in their playlist on a sunny road trip that makes them want to roll the windows down and turn the music up while singing and shouting the verses alone or with their friends. Over October shared how they came up with the album cover and title.
Buizon, Lua, Geronimo and Canlas met in a school culminating event called “Press Play.” Afterwards, Buizon and Lua were sitting behind a pick-up truck when they had a random conversation that lead to the latter saying, “We have the same name, why don’t we form a band?”
John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Coldplay and Hillsong are among the music influences of Over October. Each member has personal influences they use to come up with music that plays with listeners’ emotions.
