The Isle of Man is an island in the Irish Sea between Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The island is a self-governing British Crown Dependency with Queen Elizabeth II, 93, as the head of state.
In 1266, the Isle of Man became part of Scotland. In 1399, the island was under the feudal lordship of the English Crown, which was revested in the British Crown in 1765.
In 2016, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) awarded the Isle of Man biosphere reserve status. The island’s incumbent and 30th lieutenant governor Richard Gozney, 68, assumed office on May 27, 2016.
