The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a country in Western Asia. The country is bordered by Jordan and Iraq to the north, Kuwait to the northeast, Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates to the east, Oman to the southeast and Yemen to the south.
Administered as two separate units in 1927, the dual kingdom of the Hejaz and Najd with its dependencies unified under the name of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on September 23, 1932. On October 24, 1945, the country was admitted to the United Nations.
Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, 83, has been the king and prime minister of Saudi Arabia since January 23, 2015. The country’s incumbent crown prince and first deputy prime minister Mohammed bin Salman, 34, assumed office on June 21, 2017.
