Julie Ann San Jose and Martin del Rosario are among the Filipino television stars and artists nominated at the 24th Asian Television Awards. The event will be held at the Newport Performing Arts Theaters at the Resorts World Manila in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines from January 10-12, 2020.
Considered as Asian TV’s most celebrated gathering of industry professionals, the ATA has been honoring and recognizing hundreds of Asian actors, directors, producers, hosts and presenters since its founding in 1996. The host country of the 24th edition of the awards received 20 nominations.
San Jose is nominated Best Actress in a Leading Role for the GMA 7 animated series “Barangay 143.” Del Rosario is nominated Best Leading Male Performance for the Cignal TV series “Born Beautiful.”
Cathy Yang of the ABS-CBN News Channel’s “Market Edge with Cathy Yang” and Cito Beltran of Cignal TV’s “Agenda” are both nominated in the Best News Presenter or Anchor category. Mark A. Reyes is nominated in the Best Direction category for his work in the digital series “Mystified.”
The Philippines dominated the Best Theme Song category. All five nominees are from the host country.
Some of the most acclaimed and most popular artists of the region also received nods in the 24th ATA. Other nominees include Thailand’s Purim Rattanaruangwattana and Attaphan Poonsawat for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Taiwan’s Nicolas Teo and William Hsieh for Best Actor in a Leading Role, South Korea’s Kim Hye-Ja for Best Actress in a Leading Role and China’s Zhu Yi Long for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and Angelababy for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
Other nominees from Thailand are Chanon Santinatornkul and Korapat Kirdpan. The former is best known for his role in the hit 2017 Thai movie “Bad Genius” while the latter starred in the famed youth series “Hormones.”
Yang will host the 24th ATA award ceremonies with Filipino actor Mark Neumann, Thai model-actress Ase Wang and Singapore media personality Wallace Ang. Asia’s best and most popular stars are expected to attend the red carpet event on January 11, 2020.
Over 300 international delegates, composed of filmmakers, TV producers, actors and TV hosts are expected to arrive in the Philippines to grace the three-day event. A concert will cap off the awards festival on January 12, 2020 featuring top Asian performers headlined by Indonesian star Anggun and Filipino artists Martin Nievera, Kris Lawrence, 4th Impact and Morisette to name a few.
