
ONE Championship held the official kick-off “ONE: A New Tomorrow” press conference at the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand on January 6, 2020. It was attended by various local and international media.
Located on Sukhumvit Road, the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit Hotel has direct access to BTS skytrain Nana Station in Khlong Toei District, Bangkok. Among the facilities and amenities of the five-star hotel are free wireless internet, a fitness center, swimming pool, outdoor spaces and Regency Club Lounge.
During the “ONE: A New Tomorrow” press conference at the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit Hotel, ONE Championship announced a partnership with the Sports Authority of Thailand. The partnership with aims to further develop the sport of Muay Thai on a global scale.
The collaboration between ONE Championship and the SAT will see both organizations work together to establish ONE Hero Series Muay Thai in Thailand, which seeks to discover grassroots Muay Thai talent in both the local and international level. ONE Hero Series aims to provide young, up-and-coming Muay Thai athletes the global platform to showcase their skills and carve a path towards having a sustainable professional career in the sport.
ONE Championship President of Thailand “Plai” Jitinat Asdamongkol attended the “ONE: A New Tomorrow” press conference. The event was graced by some Thai officials including Minister of Tourism and Sports secretary Khemmapol Auitayakul and Professional Sports Development and Boxing Department director Tanukiat Janchum.
Also in attendance were Thailand’s martial arts stars ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion “The Iron Man” Rodtang Jitmuangnon, ONE Atomweight Kickboxing and Muay Thai World Champion Stamp Fairtex, Muangthai P.K. Saenchaimuaythaigym and Sangmanee Sathian MuayThai Gym. They are the only four Thai athletes on the “ONE: A New Tomorrow” card, which will feature six mixed martial arts matches, five Muay Thai contests and one kickboxing bout.
Jonathan “The General” Haggerty, 22, of the United Kingdom and Victor “Leo” Pinto, 26, of France were present during the press conference, as well. The latter will face his countryman Adam Noi at “ONE: A New Tomorrow,” which will take place at the Impact Arena in Bangkok on January 10, 2020.
Rodlek P.K. Saenchaimuaythaigym, 29, of Thailand is not on the “ONE: A New Tomorrow” fight card. But he attended the press conference to support his fellow Thai ONE Championship athletes.
In the main event, Haggerty and Rodtang will have a rematch. The English challenger is the former ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion.
