Thailand’s Sangmanee Sathian Muaythai Gym: Japan’s Kenta Yamada is a very talented veteran

“The Million Dollar Baby” Sangmanee Sathian Muaythai Gym, 22, is one of the four athletes representing Thailand at “ONE: A New Tomorrow.” The Thai ONE Super Series athlete will face Kenta Yamada, 32, of Japan.

Featuring six MMA matches, five Muay Thai contests and one kickboxing bout, the “ONE: A New Tomorrow” fight night will take place at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on January 10, 2020. In the 10th bout of the evening, Sangmanee and Yamada will battle it out in an Muay Thai contest in the bantamweight division.

On January 6, 2020, ONE Championship held the official kick-off “ONE: A New Tomorrow” press conference at the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit Hotel in Bangkok. During the event, Sangmanee said, “Competing on the main card of the first ONE event of the year in Thailand is a massive honor for me and I promise to do my home country fans proud.”

“Kenta Yamada is a veteran and a very talented fighter and I know that we will put on a great show for the fans in Bangkok,” Sangmanee continued. “I believe that a win here will move me one step closer to my goal of becoming a world champion.”

During the “ONE: A New Tomorrow” press conference, ONE Championship announced its partnership with the Sports Authority of Thailand, which aims to further develop the sport of Muay Thai on a global scale. The collaboration will see both organizations work together to establish ONE Hero Series Muay Thai in Thailand, which seeks to discover grassroots Muay Thai talent in both the local and international level.

ONE Championship Thailand president “Plai” Jitinat Asdamongkol, Minister of Tourism and Sports secretary Khemmapol Auitayakul and Professional Sports Development and Boxing Department director Tanukiat Janchum attended the “ONE: A New Tomorrow” press conference. Also present were Jonathan “The General” Haggerty, 22, of the United Kingdom, Victor “Leo” Pinto, 26, of France and Thailand’s “The Iron Man” Rodtang Jitmuangnon, 22, Stamp Fairtex, 22, and Muangthai “Elbow Zombie” P.K.Saenchai Muaythaigym, 24.
