England’s Liam Harrison earns 1st ONE Super Series win, knocks out Malaysia’s Mohammed bin Mahmoud at ‘ONE: A New Tomorrow’ in Thailand

Fighting out of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom, Liam “Hitman” Harrison, 34, has earned his first victory in ONE Championship’s striking-only league ONE Super Series. The English martial artist was one of the winners at “ONE: A New Tomorrow.”

ONE Championship held “ONE: A New Tomorrow” at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on January 10, 2020. In the eighth bout of the evening, Harrison competed in a Muay Thai bout in the bantamweight division against “Jordan Boy” Mohammed bin Mahmoud, 23, of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Elias Dolaptsis served as the referee. Early in the first round, Harrison scored the first knockdown after connecting on a well-placed left hook.

Mohammed answered the count but would be sent right back down moments later, courtesy of a succession of elbows from Harrison. The English contender then took his Malaysian opponent out with a flurry of punches.

Dolaptsis stepped in and ended the bantamweight contest after 2 minutes and 3 seconds in the first round. Harrison knocked out bin Mahmoud.

Including Malaysia and the U.K., 15 countries were represented at “ONE: A New Tomorrow.” The other countries were Algeria, Brazil, China, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mongolia, the Philippines, Russia, Thailand, the United States and Vietnam.

Born in Leeds on October 5, 1985, Harrison was 13 years old when he started his Muay Thai training by joining the Bad Company gym in Harehills, Leeds. His trainer is former British, Commonwealth and European kickboxing champion Richard Smith.

At the age of 15, Harrison made his debut as a professional fighter. He went on to become an eight-time Muay Thai world champion.

On June 15, 2019, Harrison made his ONE Super Series debut at “ONE: Legendary Quest” at the Baoshan Arena in Shanghai, China. He lost via unanimous decision to Rodlek PK.Saenchaimuaythaigym, 29, of Bangkok.

Winning at “ONE: A New Tomorrow” improved the professional Muay Thai record of Harrison to 86 wins, 23 losses, 2 draws. It was his second ONE Super Series bout.

On the other hand, it was bin Mahmoud’s sixth ONE Super Series bout. He now has a professional Muay Thai record of 32 wins and 6 losses.

Featuring six MMA matches, five Muay Thai contests and one kickboxing bout, “ONE: A New Tomorrow” was the first ONE Championship event to take place in 2020. Here is a recap:
