BRAVE CF to hold 5th Brazil event in Balneário Camboriú, Santa Catarina

BRAVE CF, Brazil

Brazil will be one of the destinations of BRAVE Combat Federation in 2020. This marks the fifth time the Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion is holding an event in the country.

This renews BRAVE CF’s commitment to the Brazilian MMA scene. Two of the promotion’s previous events in Brazil took place in Curitiba, Paraná while the other two shows took place in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais.

BRAVE CF’s fifth event in Brazil will take place in Balneário Camboriú, Santa Catarina. This is the first time the resort city is playing host to an event held by the promotion.

Balneário Camboriú is famous for its unique cable car and is dubbed the capital of e-music in Brazil. Among the tourist destinations in the city are Cristo Luz, Parque Unipraias, Parque Cyro Gevaerd, Capela de Santo Amaro and Parque Natural Municipal Raimundo Gonçalez Malta.

Both held at the Khalifa Sports City in Isa Town, Bahrain, the first two BRAVE CF events titled “Brave 1: The Beginning” and “Brave 2: Dynasty” happened on September 23, 2016 and on December 2, 2016, respectively. Titled “Brave 3: Battle in Brazil,” the promotion’s third event took place at the Ginásio Max Rosenmann in Curitiba on March 19,2017.

This made Brazil the first foreign country to host a BRAVE CF event. It set the tone for the promotion’s worldwide reach and it has returned to the country three more times, all of which with title fights headlining.

On August 12, 2017, BRAVE CF made history by putting together the first ever title bout with two foreigners taking place in Brazil. Carlston “Moçambique” Lindsay Harris of Guyana defeated Carl “The Bomber” Booth of England when they competed for the inaugural Brave CF Welterweight World Championship title in the co-main event of “Brave 8: The Rise of Champions” at the Almir Nelson de Almeida Gymnasium in Curitiba.

From 2016 to 2019, 77 fighters already represented Brazil in BRAVE CF giving the country the biggest contingent in the promotion’s roster. Out of 33 events so far, only four of the promotion’s previous shows did not feature at least one Brazilian fighter.

Two of the reigning BRAVE CF champions are fighting out of Brazil namely Cleiton “Predator” Silva, 33, and Daniel “Gaucho” Souza, 28. Both from Belo Horizonte, they reign in the lightweight and middleweight divisions, respectively.
