Jomary “The Zamboanganian Fighter” Torres, 24, was one of the seven “ONE: Fire and Fury” fighters featured in the open workout at One Esplanade in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on January 28, 2020. She is training out of Catalan Fighting System in Makati City, Metro Manila, Philippines under the tutelage of her fellow ONE Championship athlete Rene “The Challenger” Catalan, 41.
Featuring nine mixed martial arts matches and three Muay Thai contests, ONE Championship will hold “ONE: Fire and Fury” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on January 31, 2020. In the first bout of the evening, Torres will compete in the women’s atomweight division against Jenny “Lady GoGo” Huang, 29, of Taiwan.
“All I can say is that I am excited to face Jenny Huang,” Torres said. “She is a dangerous grappler, has decent striking and is a former ONE World Title challenger so she has that experience at the highest level. I’ll do my best to get the win.”
The open workout was hosted by Mitch “The Dragon” Chilson, 41, of the United States. The other fighters who participated in the event were Alex “Little Rock” Silva, 37, of Brazil and Torres’s fellow Filipino MMA fighters Gina “Conviction” Iniong, 30, Danny “The King” Kingad, 24, Lito “The Thunder Kid” Adiwang, 26, former ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, 35, and reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio, 23, who are all training out of the Team Lakay gym in La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines.
Huang is riding a five-bout losing streak. She holds a professional MMA record of 5 wins and 5 losses.
On the other hand, Torres is coming out of four consecutive losses. She now has 4 wins and 4 losses.
