Iuri Lapicus, Reinier de Ridder, Itsuki Hirata still undefeated after ‘ONE: Warrior’s Code’ wins in Jakarta, Indonesia

Iuri Lapicus, 24, of Moldova and Italy, Reinier “The Dutch Knight” de Ridder, 29, of the Netherlands and Itsuki “Strong Heart Fighter” Hirata (平田樹), 20, of Japan have several things in common. They are three of the 14 undefeated professional mixed martial artists who are currently signed with ONE Championship.

Lapicus, de Ridder and Hirata were recently in Jakarta, Indonesia for “ONE: Warrior’s Code.” They put their undefeated professional MMA records on the line in a foreign land and showed the world why they have yet to taste a defeat.

Featuring three Muay Thai contests and eight MMA bouts, ONE Championship held “ONE: Warrior’s Code” at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta on February 7, 2020. The respective bouts of Lapicus, de Ridder and Hirata were among the MMA matches.

In the sixth bout of the evening, Hirata faced Nyrene “Neutron Bomb” Crowley, 30, of New Zealand at a catchweight of 53.4kg. Referee Kemp Cheng put a stop to the contest after 3 minutes and 27 seconds in the third round when the Japanese contender knocked out her Kiwi opponent.

The ninth bout was a lightweight bout between Lapicus and former ONE Featherweight World Champion Marat “Cobra” Gafurov, 35, of Russia. Cheng stopped the match after 1 minute and 7 seconds in the first round when the Moldovan-Italian fighter submitted his Russian opponent via rear-naked choke.

In the co-main event of the evening, de Ridder fought Leandro “Leo” Ataides, 33, of Brazil in the middleweight division. They competed for the right to challenge reigning ONE Middleweight World Champion “The Burmese Python” Aung La N Sang (အောင်လအန်ဆန်း), 34, of Myanmar, who is also the reigning champion in ONE Championship’s light heavyweight division.

After three five-minute rounds, the middleweight bout between de Ridder and Ataides was left in the hands of the judges namely Ian Cartwright of Canada, Rob Cox of the United Kingdom and Eshton Thomas of Malaysia. In the end, referee Olivier Coste raised the hand of the Dutch fighter, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

Winning at “ONE: Warrior’s Code” improved the professional MMA record of Hirata to 6 wins and 0 loss, of de Ridder to 12 wins and 0 loss and of Lapicus to 14 wins and 0 loss.
