Denmark’s Mark Madsen earns 2nd UFC win, decisions Colorado’s Austin Hubbard at ‘UFC 248’ in Las Vegas, Nevada

Mark “The Olympian” Overgaard Madsen, 35, of Maribo, Denmark was one of the winners at “UFC 248.” It was the undefeated Danish mixed martial artist’s second win in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Featuring 11 MMA matches, including two title bouts, the UFC held “UFC 248” at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States on March 7, 2020. In the fifth bout of the evening, Madsen competed against Austin “Thud” Hubbard, 28, of Denver, Colorado, USA in the lightweight division.

Chris Tognoni served as the referee. After three five-minute rounds, the lightweight contest was left in the hands of the three judges, who all saw it 29-28.

In the end, Tognoni raised the hand of Madsen. The undefeated Danish MMA fighter was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

Losing to Madsen downgraded the professional MMA record of Hubbard to 11 wins and 3 losses. Maintaining his undefeated record, the Danish contender now has 10 wins and 0 loss.

Including Denmark and the U.S., 12 other countries were represented at “UFC 248.” The others were Argentina, Brazil, China, Cuba, Georgia, Mexico, Mongolia, New Zealand, Poland, Russia and the U.S.

Hubbard was one of the 10 representatives of the U.S. Madsen solely represented Denmark.

In the main event of the evening, UFC Middleweight Champion Israel “The Last Stylebender” Adesanya, 30, of Auckland, New Zealand successfully defended his belt from Yoel “Soldier of God” Romero, 42, of Pinar del Rio, Cuba and Miami, Florida, USA. The Nigerian-Kiwi champion won via unanimous decision.

In the co-main event, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, 32, of Olsztyn, Poland challenged UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion “Magnum” Zhang Weili, 30, of Hebei, China. The Chinese defending champion won via split decision.

Born in Nykobing Falster, Denmark on September 24, 1984, Madsen has been competing professionally since 2013. On September 28, 2019, he made his successful UFC debut by knocking out Danilo “Caterpillar” Belluardo, 25, of Milan, Italy via punches at “UFC Fight Night 160” at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark.
