David “The” Bear, 29, of Ivry-sur-Seine, France was one of the winners at “Cage Warriors 113,” also known as “CW 113.” It was the French mixed martial artist’s first victory in Cage Warriors Fighting Championship.
While many MMA promotions either cancelled or postponed events amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Cage Warriors went ahead and held “CW 113” at the Manchester BEC Arena in Manchester, England on March 20, 2020 featuring 11 MMA fights. In the ninth bout of the evening, Bear competed in the welterweight division against Nathan “Mr. Bag and Tag” Jones, 30, of Brentford, Greater London, England.
Marc Goddard served as the referee. After three five-minute rounds, the welterweight contest was left in the hands of the judges, who all scored it 30-27.
In the end, Goddard raised the hand of Bear. The French MMA fighter was declared the winner via unanimous decision.
Losing to Bear downgraded the professional MMA record of Jones to 13 wins and 10 losses. It was the English MMA fighter’s second loss in Cage Warriors.
On the other hand, Bear now has 9 wins and 1 loss. He made his Cage Warriors debut at “CW 113.”
Competing professionally since 2012, Bear had two fights in BRAVE Combat Federation before joining Cage Warriors. After losing to Jarrah “The Jordanian Lion” Al-Selawe, 26, of Amman, Jordan at “BRAVE 10: The Kingdom Rises,” the French MMA fighter defeated Pawel “The Polish Prospect” Kielek, 23, of Olsztyn, Poland at “BRAVE CF 19.”
Bear also previously competed in 100% Fight and Desert Force, among others. He went on hiatus in 2019.
Including England and France, seven countries were represented at “CW 113.” The others were Ireland, Northern Ireland, Poland, Scotland and Wales.
Jones was one of the 14 hometown fighters. Bear solely represented France.
In the main event of the evening, Bartosz “The Butcher” Fabinski, 33, of Warsaw, Poland made his successful Cage Warriors debut. He defeated his fellow former UFC fighter Darren “The Dentist” Stewart, 29, of London, England, United Kingdom in the middleweight division.
In the co-main event, Mason “The Dragon” Jones, 24, of Blaenavon, Wales was crowned the new Cage Warriors Lightweight Champion. The undefeated Welsh MMA fighter knocked out Joe “The SBG Hunter” McColgan, 33, of Belfast, Northern Ireland.
