Igorot mixed martial artist Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang, 27, recently shared how he has been spending his quarantined time while the world is dealing with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Training at Team Lakay in La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines, he is one of the top strawweight MMA fighters of Singapore-based martial arts organization ONE Championship.
Adiwang is taking advantage of this time at home to enjoy time with his family. He is also making sure that things around the house are ready for the upcoming rainy season in the Philippines.
“During this quarantine, I’ve kept myself busy by working out at home, catching up with my brothers by giving advice and planning how to make tomorrow better and by fixing whatever it is that is needed to be fixed at home so that it’s in good shape especially with the rainy season approaching,” Adiwang shared. “Being a proud Igorot, I can say that our traits and beliefs have greatly helped us combat this dangerous disease.”
On April 27, 2020, ONE Championship released its first official athlete rankings for select weight divisions across mixed martial arts, Muay Thai and kickboxing. Adiwang was one of the Team Lakay representatives who made it to the list.
In the strawweight division of MMA, Adiwang ranked fifth among the top contenders. The reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion is his teammate Joshua “The Passion” Pacio, 24.
