Mixed martial arts coach Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, 57, of Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia is currently in a coma in a hospital in Moscow, Russia. He is the head coach and father of reigning UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov, 31.
In April 2020, Abdulmanap was hospitalized in Makhachkala with suspected pneumonia and influenza. He was tested for the new coronavirus (COVID-19) and the result came out negative, according to RT.
“I feel fine,” Abdulmanap at the time told TASS, as cited by the publication. “Everything is well.”
But apparently, Abdulmanap fell ill again. A source told Russian sports publication Sports Express the current condition of Khabib’s father is not good.
While in Dagestan, Abdulmanap’s condition worsened so he was moved to a military hospital in Moscow by plane. He is alone there since family and friends are not allowed to visit.

“Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov is a true martial artist who lives a life of pride, honor and respect,” UFC president Dana White said in a statement. “He instilled those same values in his son, world champion Khabib, at an early age and was always in his corner throughout his career.”
“I know how close Khabib is with his father and I’m saddened to hear about his current state,” White continued. “My thoughts are with Abdulmanap and the Nurmagomedov family as he continues to fight.”
