Sijara “Sarj” Eubanks, 35, of Springfield, Massachusetts, United States was one of the winners at “UFC Fight Night 175,” also known as “UFC on ESPN+ 29.” It was her third victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Featuring 10 mixed martial arts matches, “UFC Fight Night 175” took place at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida, USA on May 13, 2020. In the fourth bout of the evening, Eubanks fought Sarah “Cheesecake” Moras, 32, of Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada in the women’s bantamweight division.
Michael Cardoso served as the referee. After three five-minute rounds, the bantamweight contest was left in the hands of the three judges, who scored it 30-27, 30-27 and 30-26.
In the end, Cardoso raised the hand of Eubanks. The Springfield native was declared the winner via unanimous decision.
Winning at “UFC Fight Night 175” improved the professional MMA record of Eubanks to 5 wins and 4 losses. It was the third time she won a professional MMA bout via unanimous decision.
On the other hand, Moras now has 6 wins and 6 losses. It was her fifth loss in the UFC.
The UFC held “UFC Fight Night 175” amid the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic while almost all other major MMA promotions have either cancelled or postponed their events. In the main event of the evening, Glover Teixeira, 40, of Sobrália, Minas Gerais, Brazil knocked out Anthony “Lionheart” Smith, 31, of Omaha, Nebraska, USA in the light heavyweight division.
Teixeira and Drew Dober, 31, of Denver, Colorado, USA were the two recipients of the Performance of the Night bonuses. Presented by Toyo Tires, the Fight of the Night was the featherweight bout between Brian “Boom” Kelleher, 33, of Selden, New York, USA and Hunter Azure, 28, of Phoenix, Arizona, USA.
Six countries were represented at “UFC Fight Night 175” namely Belarus, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, the U.S. and Venezuela. Moras solely represented Canada while Eubanks was one of the 13 representatives of the U.S.
Born in Springfield on April 27, 1985, Eubanks has been competing professionally as an MMA fighter since 2015 and she made her UFC debut in 2018. The first two opponents she defeated in the promotion were Lauren Murphy and Roxanne Modafferi.
