Factor X’s Chris Gutierrez earns 3rd UFC win, knocks out Vince Morales in Las Vegas

Training out of Factor X in Englewood, Colorado, United States, Chris “El Guapo” Gutierrez, 29, was one of the winners at “UFC on ESPN 9.” It was the Colombian-Guatemalan-American mixed martial artist’s third victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Gutierrez is a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He was born on April 22, 1991 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA to Colombian father Jorge Gutierrez and Guatemalan mother Gladis Canoral.

Chris made his professional debut in 2013 and his UFC debut in 2018. The first two opponents he defeated in the promotion were Ryan MacDonald and Geraldo de Freitas Jr.

Featuring 11 professional MMA matches, “UFC on ESPN 9” took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA on May 30, 2020. In the first bout of the evening, Chris fought Vince “Vandetta” Morales, 29, of Caldwell, Idaho, USA in the featherweight division.

Jason Herzog served as the referee. He put a stop to the featherweight contest when Chris knocked out Morales via leg kicks at 4 minutes and 27 seconds in the second round.

This made Chris the 10th MMA fighter to win via technical knockout via leg kicks in the UFC. In his post-fight interview, the Factor X product said, “To be making history says a lot and I’m proud to be that person.”

Winning at “UFC on ESPN 9” improved Chris’s professional MMA records to 15 wins, 4 losses and 1 draw. On the other hand, Morales now has 9 wins and 5 losses.

Brazil, Bulgaria, Kyrgyzstan, Peru and the U.S. were represented at “UFC on ESPN 9,” which took place amid the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Chris and Morales were two of the 27 representatives of the U.S.

In the co-main event of the evening, Augusto Sakai, 29, Curitiba, Parana, Brazil defeated Blagoy “Baga” Ivanov (Благой Иванов), 33, of Sofia, Bulgaria via split decision in the heavyweight division. In the main event, Gilbert “Durinho” Burns, 33, of Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil defeated Tyron “The Chosen One” Woodley, 38, of St. Louis, Missouri in the welterweight division via unanimous decision.
