Blexit founder Candace Owens, 31, disagrees with those who call George Floyd a hero and a gentle giant. For the conservative commentator and political activist, people are not being honest about the entire backstory of the late security guard.
“George Floyd was not a good person,” Owens said in an interview with radio host Glenn Beck. “I don’t care who wants to spin that. I don’t care how CNN wants to make you think that he had just turned his life around.”
There are things that the society considers as deeds of a good man and there are things considered as those of a bad man. Floyd had both in his life of 46 years.
“Was he really going to turn things around?” Owens asked of Floyd. “It’s just not true.”
Born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, United States, Floyd was into sports and music, participated in church activities and mentored young athletes. On the other hand, he had been in and out of jail.
On August 9, 2007, Floyd was charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in a home invasion in Houston and pleaded guilty to first-degree felony. On April 8, 2009, he was sentenced to five years in prison as part of a plea deal.
“This woman now has to watch him be held up as a hero,” Owens said of the home invasion victim. “I can’t even think about the trauma.”
In 2013, Floyd was paroled after spending four years at the Diboll Unit, a private state prison for men in Diboll, Texas, USA. After serving time, he became an anti-violence advocate and moved to St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA in 2014 for a fresh start, his friends claim.
On May 25, 2020, Floyd died more than an hour after being violently arrested by Minneapolis Police Department officers Derek Michael Chauvin, 44, Tou Thao, 34, Thomas Lane, 37, and J Alexander Kueng, 26. Arteriosclerotic and hypertensive heart disease, fentanyl intoxication and recent methamphetamine use were enumerated as other significant conditions in the autopsy conducted by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.
“George Floyd was not an amazing person,” Owens said. “George Floyd, at the time of his arrest, was high on fentanyl and methamphetamine.”
Born in Stamford, Connecticut, USA, Owens went to the University of Rhode Island in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, USA to earn a degree in journalism but left after her junior year. An outspoken supporter of Donald Trump, she founded Blexit to encourage blacks and other minorities to leave the Democratic Party.

Ms. Owens you failed to perceive the agony of this man’s tragic death. Everyone make mistakes and wrong decisions in life. If he had murdered or raped someone I would better understand your decision to bring up the past; at this point of his serving time he paid his dues and evidently was about making a change in his adult life. Maybe you should write more of how this Nation has become divided by Racism,White Supremacy, Hatred, Financial Insecurity,Joblessness,lack of Health Care and a Nation without a Leader. Then return to writing disparaging stories of ( maybe be guilty but without defense) of a Black (or any color) Voiceless citizen who died at the ruthless hands of a Racist cop who had 18 abuse complaints against him, yet remained on the force to brutalize a man he already knew……no offense intended,I just dont’t see Skin color as God said He made us all of one blood and wickedness and evil come in all colors; but then so does good and love😷

How does everyone know the cops were racist? It seems to me the 20 year veteran cop had a issue with George from their boucing days and took advantage of his authority by keeping his knee on George. Just because the cop is white doesn’t make him racist. I need more info to make that call.

J D you are absolutely correct. I am guilty of judging a person I never met or knew. Unjustly, I called him a Racist based on his history of 18 complaints and the fact I read that his altercation with George Floyd was over his entering the nightclub and harassing the Black patrons. His job was outside the club and George ‘s was inside Bouncer( per News article). However that does not give me the right to judge and for that I apologize. I do not,however, apologize to Ms Owens b/c her concept of the protests and marches was way off base. The victim could have been any person of Color, but the anger and frustration was based on the social and systemic injustice that has been present much too long. It’s about the failure of America to honor and uphold the Constitution and practice “We hold these truths to be self evident that ALL MEN are CREATED EQUAL” God created ALL People in His Image and of ONE Blood. But Hatred and Racism is upending this Nation and Chaos and Police Brutality is rampant. People of Color are asking for what is rightfully theirs; nothing more and nothing less(.(Respect, Quality Education, Health Care), I will end with the quote from the riots in Los Angeles in 1992 ( brought on by Police Brutality)and the Police brutal beating of Rodney King , who calmly stated “ Why can’t we all just get along”?
