Rebel Wilson explains weight loss, ‘LOL: Last One Laughing Australia’

Melanie Elizabeth Bownds, 40, professionally known as Rebel Wilson. recently shared some details about her weight loss. It was in time for the Amazon Prime Video show “LOL: Last One Laughing Australia,” which is hosted by the Australian actress.

“It’s not like I want to lose weight and get to around a certain number,” Wilson told The Sun. “It’s more than that. It’s about dealing mentally with with why I was overeating and I had a job where I was paid a lot of money to be bigger, at times which kind of can mess with your head a bit.”

Wilson rose to fame through her “Pitch Perfect” role Fat Amy. After turning 40 on March 2, 2020, she started her journey to weight loss via the help of celebrity personal trainer Jono Castano Acero.

With the guidance of Acero, Wilson worked on high-intensity interval training (HIIT), mobility, resistance, technique, tempo and weights. She was only given one day of rest per week.

Currently, Wilson is promoting “LOL: Last One Laughing Australia,” a redeveloped version of the Japanese show “Documental,” which is now in its seventh season. The original show was first exported as “LOL” to Mexico in 2018.

Hosted by Wilson, “LOL: Last One Laughing Australia” is a six-part series featuring 10 Australian comedians locked in an apartment for six hours. The comedians are Anne Edmonds, Becky Lucas, Dilruk Jayasinha, Ed Kavalee, Frank Woodley, Joel Creasey, Nazeem Hussain, Nick Cody, Sam Simmons and Susie Youssef.

The 10 comedians will do everything to provoke each other and Wilson barges in to kick out whoever laughs. The last comedian to not laugh will win $100,000.

Aside from hosting, Wilson also serves as one of the executive producers of “LOL: Last One Laughing Australia.” She said Woodley is a master of physical comedy, Edmonds is best when playing characters and Simmons is very offbeat.

“It can only benefit these comedians,” Wilson told Pop Sugar. “I was so proud of them for doing it because it is a very hard experiment and I would have been sh—ing myself if I had to do it.”

The first two “LOL: Last One Laughing Australia” episodes will premiere worldwide on Amazon Prime Video on June 19, 2020. The third and fourth episodes will be released on June 26, 2020 and the fifth and sixth episodes will air on July 3, 2020.
