
Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov died in a hospital in Moscow, Russia due to complications stemming from new coronavirus (COVID-19) infection on July 3, 2020. He was 57.
Wrestling from an early age, Nurmagomedov started his his sports career with free-style wrestling in Ukraine where he won championship titles in judo and sambo. An Army veteran, he trained in judo and sambo in the military and went on to become one of the top sambo and mixed martial arts trainers in the world.
Nurmagomedov was born on December 10, 1962 in Sildi, Tsumadinsky, Dagestan, Russia. His second son Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov, 31, is an undefeated MMA fighter currently reigning as the UFC Lightweight Champion.
