Harold Pharr Easter was an American man from Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, United States. He died three days after he was arrested by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers.

On January 23, 2020, Easter ingested a large amount of cocaine when he was pulled over in the vehicle he was driving. At 11:30 a.m., he was arrested for possession of marijuana and cocaine near Whisnant Street and Burton Street in Charlotte.

At 12:19 p.m., Easter was placed in an interview room of the CMPD’s Metro Division Office. While in the room, he was not continuously supervised.

At 1:06 p.m., Easter experienced a serious medical emergency and fell to the floor. At 1:13 p.m., an officer found him and called for medical help.

Charlotte Medic performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on Easter in the hallway of the precinct before he was rushed to the Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte. CMPD officers Brentley Vinson, Michael Benfield, Michael Joseph and Shon Sheffield and Sergeant Nicolas Vincent had “intimate knowledge” that cardiopulmonary resuscitation had swallowed cocaine during the traffic stop and was “left unattended inside an interview room for more than 20 minutes,” FOX 46 Charlotte quoted CMPD chief Johnny Jennings as saying.

In an interview with WCNC, Easter was described as “a genuine person he looked out for his community, not only his community but pretty much everybody” by his sister Andrell Sherill Mackey. Here are 13 more things about him:
