John “Hands of Stone” Lineker, 30, of Paranagua, Parana, Brazil was one of the winners at “ONE: Inside the Matrix III.” It was the Brazilian mixed martial artist’s second victory in ONE Championship.
Training at American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Florida, United States, Lineker fought Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, 33, of Ifugao, Philippines at “ONE: Inside the Matrix III.” ONE Championship taped the closed-door MMA event at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore and aired it in the evening of November 13, 2020.
Five MMA fights were on the “ONE: Inside the Matrix III” fight card. Six countries were represented namely Brazil, China, Japan, the Philippines, Russia and South Korea.
In the main event of the evening, Lineker and Belingon battled it out in the bantamweight division. Justin Brown served as the referee.
At the opening bell, Lineker and Belingon met at the center of the cage and looked to trade their heaviest shots. The Filipino contender dazzled with his usual display of flashy spinning attacks and powerful combinations.
Lineker kept tight pressure and battered Belingon with concussive hooks and uppercuts. In the middle of the second round, a right uppercut to the temple dropped the Filipino contender.
Brown put a stop to the bantamweight contest after 1 minute and 16 seconds in the second round when Lineker knocked out Belingon via punches. It was the first time the Filipino MMA fighter lost in a professional MMA bout via knockout.
Lineker stands 160cm. Belingon is 5cm taller and he trains at Team Lakay in La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines.
Beating Belingon at “ONE: Inside the Matrix III” improved the professional MMA record of Lineker to 33 wins and 9 losses. On the other hand, the Team Lakay fighter now has 11 wins and 3 losses.
Prior to the fight, Belingon was the number one contender in ONE Championship’s bantamweight division while Lineker was number five. The Filipino MMA fighter now moves down to number two while the American Top Team product moves up to number one.
Belingon was one of the three MMA fighters who represented the Philippines. Lineker was one of the two representatives of Brazil.
From May 2012 to April 2019, Lineker competed in the Ultimate Fighting Champion. When he made his ONE Championship debut on October 25, 2019, he defeated Muin “Tajik” Gafurov, 24, of Dushanbe, Tajikistan via unanimous decision.
