
Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio, 31, of Baguio City, Philippines was one of the winners at “ONE: Inside the Matrix III.” It was the Igorot mixed martial artist’s 11th victory in ONE Championship.
Training at Team Lakay in La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines, Eustaquio fought “The Running Man” Song Min Jong, 28, of Ilsan, Goyang, South Korea at “ONE: Inside the Matrix III.” ONE Championship taped the closed-door MMA event at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore and aired it in the evening of November 13, 2020.
Five MMA fights were on the “ONE: Inside the Matrix III” fight card. Six countries were represented namely Brazil, China, Japan, the Philippines, Russia and South Korea.
In the co-main event of the evening, Song and Eustaquio battled it out at a catch weight of 64kg. Yuji Shimada served as the referee.
It was a vintage performance for Eustaquio as he dominated with a showcase of sharp counterstrikes. Song would look to employ his grappling but the Team Lakay veteran used his experience to escape a ground battle.
After three five-minute rounds, the catchweight bout was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, Shimada, raised the hand of the Igorot contender, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.
Song stands 172cm and trains at Monster House in Ilsan. Eustaquio is 163cm tall.
Beating Song at “ONE: Inside the Matrix III” improved the professional MMA record of Eustaquio to 14 wins and 8 losses. On the other hand, the Monster House product now has 11 wins and 8 losses.
Eustaquio was one of the three MMA fighters who represented the Philippines. Song solely represent South Korea.
Competing professionally since 2011, Eustaquio joined ONE Championship in 2012. The first 10 opponents he defeated in the promotion were Alex Silva, Eugene Toquero, Kentaro Watanabe, Saiful Merican, Gianni Subba, Anatpong Bunrad, Kairat Akhtemov, Adriano Moraes, Kyu Sung Kim and Toni Tauru.
