Ryogo “Kaitai” Takahashi (高橋遼伍), 31, of Kakogawa, Hyogo, Japan was one of the winners at “ONE: Inside the Matrix IV.” It was the Japanese mixed martial artist’s second victory in the Singapore-based martial arts promotion ONE Championship.
Training at Krazy Bee in Tokyo, Japan, Takahashi fought “The Big Heart” Yoon Chang Min (윤창민), 26, Seoul, South Korea at “ONE: Inside the Matrix IV,” which featured MMA matches, one Muay Thai contest and one kickboxing fight. ONE Championship taped the combat sports event at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore before airing it on November 20, 2020.
In the second match of the evening, Takahashi and Yoon battled it out in an MMA bout in the featherweight division. Mohamad Sulaiman served as the referee.
Sulaiman put a stop to the featherweight contest after 2 minutes and 52 seconds in the second round. Takahashi knocked out Yoon via punches, marking the first professional MMA loss of the Korean MMA fighter.
Winning at “ONE: Inside the Matrix IV” improved the professional MMA record of Takahashi to 14 wins and 4 losses. It was a redemptive win for him as he was coming out of his first promotional loss.
When Takahashi made his ONE Championship debut on May 3, 2019, he knocked out Keanu Subba, 26, of Malaysia. In the Japanese MMA fighter’s second bout in the promotion on January 10, 2020, he was knocked out by Thanh Le, 35, of the United States and Vietnam, who is now the reigning ONE Featherweight World Champion.
“ONE: Inside the Matrix IV” marked the third ONE Championship fight of Takahashi. It was Yoon’s fifth outing in the promotion.
Yoon now has 4 wins and 1 loss. He has been competing professionally since 2019.
Takahashi stands 175cm. Yoon, who is 2cm shorter, trains at Team Stun Gun in Seoul.
Seven countries were represented at “ONE: Inside the Matrix IV” namely Australia, Brazil, China, Italy, Japan, Russia and South Korea. Takahashi solely represented Japan while Yoon was one of the three fighters who represented South Korea.
