For the 75th National Basketball Association season, Erik Spoelstra serves as the head coach of Miami Heat, which is owned by Micky Arison. Malik Allen, Caron Butler, Octavio de la Grana and Chris Quinn are the assistant coaches.

Because of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the 2020-2021 NBA season has been reduced to 72 games. The NBA Draft was held on November 18, 2020.

After the individual player workouts from December 1-5, 2020, there will be group player workouts from December 6-10, 2020. The preseason games will be from December 11-19, 2020.

The first half of the regular 2020-2021 NBA season will start on December 22, 2020 and will end on March 4, 2021. After the NBA All-Star break, which will be from March 5-10, 2020, the second half of the regular season will start on March 11, 2021 and will end on May 16, 2021.

The play-in tournament will be from May 18-21, 2021. The playoffs are expected to run under the standard 16-team playoff format between May 22, 2021 and July 22, 2021.
