“The Ghost” Chen Rui (陈睿), 24, of China was one of the winners at the ONE Championship event “ONE: Big Bang 2.” It was the Chinese mixed martial artist’s fifth victory in the Singapore-based martial arts organization.
Featuring three MMA matches, two kickboxing contests and one Muay Thai fight, ONE Championship held “ONE: Big Bang 2” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore on December 11, 2020. In the first bout of the evening, Chen fought Ali “Moti” Motamed, 29, Iran in an MMA bout in the bantamweight division.
Mohamad Sulaiman served as the referee. He put a stop to the bantamweight contest after 1 minute and 56 seconds in the first round when Chen knocked out Motamed.
Winning at “ONE: Big Bang 2” improved the professional MMA record of Chen to 9 wins and 1 loss. He is now riding a two-bout winning streak.
On the other hand, Motamed now has 7 wins and 5 losses. A ONE Warrior Series alum, he made his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Big Bang 2.”
A total of 11 countries were represented at “ONE: Big Bang 2” namely Australia, China, Curacao, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Serbia, South Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States. Chen and Motamed were the sole representatives of China and Iran, respectively.
Motamed stands 170 cm. He trains at Team Envisage MMA in Plymouth, England, U.K.
Chen is also 170 cm tall. He trains at Chengdu Ashura Fight Club in Chengdu, Sichuan, China.
Competing professionally since 2015, Chen joined ONE Championship in 2016. The first four opponents he defeated in the promotion were Zhao Cheng (程昭) and Zheng Zheng Yue of China, Roman “Sonic Boom” Alvarez, 26, of the Northern Mariana Islands and Muhammad “Jungle Cat” Aiman, 25, of Malaysia.
