Jonathan “The General” Haggerty, 23, of London, England, United Kingdom was one of the winners at the ONE Championship event “ONE: Big Bang 2.” It was the British Muay Thai fighter’s third victory in the Singapore-based martial arts organization’s striking-only league ONE Super Series.

Featuring three mixed martial matches, two kickboxing contests and one Muay Thai fight, ONE Championship held “ONE: Big Bang 2” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore on December 11, 2020. In the main event of the evening, Haggerty fought Taiki “Silent Sniper” Naito, 24, of Japan in a Muay Thai bout in the flyweight division.

Olivier Coste served as the referee. Tomas Genberg of Sweden and Jason Quek and Darren de Silva of Singapore were the judges.

After three three-minute rounds, the flyweight contest was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, Coste raised the hand of Haggerty, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

Winning at “ONE: Big Bang 2” improved the professional Muay Thai record of Haggerty to 16 wins and 4 losses. It was his fifth ONE Super Series fight.

On the other hand, Naito now holds a professional Muay Thai and kickboxing record of 32 wins and 9 losses. It was his first loss in ONE Super Series.

A total of 11 countries were represented at “ONE: Big Bang 2” namely Australia, China, Curacao, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Serbia, South Korea, the U.K. and the United States. Haggerty solely represented the U.K. while Naito was one of the two representatives of Japan.

On April 4, 2019, Haggerty became the new ONE Muay Thai Featherweight World Champion by dethroning then champion Sam-A Gaiyanghadao, 37, of Thailand. Rodtang Jitmuangnon, 23, of Thailand dethroned Haggerty on August 2, 2019 and defeated the British fighter again in their rematch on January 10, 2010.
