Jacob Anthony Angeli Chansely, 32, of Phoenix, Arizona, United States has been arrested. The man who goes by the name Jake Angeli was one of the Donald Trump supporters who breached the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C., USA on January 6, 2021.
The Phoenix native and his fellow rioters disrupted a joint session of Congress to certify the vote of the Electoral College and affirm Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election. He was photographed wearing a bearskin headdress and horns and tan pants.
That day, Angeli’s face was painted red, white and blue. He was shirtless and he was carrying a spear, which was around 6 feet long, with an American flag tied just below the blade.
With the same costume and props, Angeli attended a rally at the Arizona State Capitol Building in Phoenix on September 20, 2019, The Arizona Republic reported. He joined the march in solidarity with climate activism groups across the U.S.
Angeli has several tattoos including a Valknut, a depiction of the Norse world tree Yggdrasil in a sphere and a large black Mjölnir. His a QAnon supporter.
Holding a sign that read, “Q Sent Me,” Angeli attended a rally at the Arizona State Capitol and Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix on February 20, 2020. On August 12, 2020, he attended a rally at the Arizona State Capitol to urge the government to reopen the schools in the midst of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
According to U.S. Capitol Police special agent James Soltes, Angeli called in to the Washington Field Office of the Federal Bureau Investigation on January 7, 2021. According to Soltes, Angeli did confirm that he participated in the riot in the U.S. Capitol building on January 6, 2021as part of a group effort with other people from Arizona, who he referred to as “patriots.”
On the morning of January 9, 2021, Angeli was taken into custody in Phoenix. He was charged in federal court in Washington, D.C. with knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and with violent entry and disorderly conduct on the U.S. Capitol grounds.
Aside from protesting in costume, Angeli is also into acting and singing. He is a voice over artist.
