Huawei will release its foldable smartphone called the Mate X2 a week after Valentine’s Day. This was announced on Weibo by Richard Yu, the chief executive officer of the technology company headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China.

Powered by the 5nm Kirin 9000 chipset with the latest 5G technology, the Huawei Mate X2 will feature a 6.45-inch external display, according to First Post. This is the successor of the Huawei Mate X, which was launched with an outward-folding design in 2019.

On the other hand, the Mate X2 will have an inward-folding design, which protects it from wear and tear when not in use. The foldable flagship “will lead the new form of smart phones in the future,” GSMArena quoted Yu as saying.

Set to be released on February 22, 2021, the Mate X2 has a 4,400 mAh non-removable battery with 66W fast charging support. The internal screen measures 8.01″ in diagonal and when unfolded, its dimensions are 161.8 x 145.8 x 8.2 mm.

Moreover, the Mate X2 is powered by Octa core processor and it runs on Android v10 (Q) operating system, according to Gadgets Now. The foldable phone has a OLED display and it supports Bluetooth 5.1 and runs Android 10 EMUI 11 system.

Manufactured by Samsung and BOE, the phone’s main screen has a resolution of 2480×2220. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate and uses the scratch-resistant colorless polyimide (CPI) instead of the ultra-thin glass (UTG).

On the rear of the phone is an 48MP + 16MP + 8MP camera, which has AutoFlash, Face detection and Digital Zoom. On the front is a 10 MP Primary Camera 8 MP Camera.
