Alyse Anderson, 26, of Mason, Ingham County, Michigan, United States is one of the eight mixed martial artists who will compete in the inaugural world grand prix of ONE Championship‘s women’s atomweight MMA division. She currently holds a professional MMA record of 5 wins and 1 loss.
Anderson will make her ONE Championship debut in the tournament. She previously competed in Total Warrior Combat and Invicta Fighting Championships.
Born in Mason, Anderson attended Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, Jackson County, Michigan. She is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu blue belt.
As an amateur fighter, Anderson was undefeated, earning six wins from 2013 to 2015. She turned professional in 2015 and had her first and only loss in 2017.
The Mason native took a break from fighting during the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in 2020. The last time she competed was on July 9, 2019 at “Invicta FC 36” in Kansas City, Missouri, USA where she defeated Katie “Queen of the North” Saull, 33, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada via split decision.
The first quarterfinal bout of the 2021 ONE Atomweight World Grand Prix is scheduled for May 28, 2021. The champion of the tournament will challenge reigning ONE Atomweight World Champion Angela “Unstoppable” Lee, 24, of Singapore in November 2021.
Including the U.S., eight countries will be represented in the tournament. The others are China, India, Japan, the Philippines, South Korea, Thailand and Ukraine.
