Lloyd M. Duyan, 33, of Bradenton, Florida, United States has been arrested and charged with one count of sexual battery. The alleged victim is a girl, 17, studying in Riverview High School in Sarasota, Sarasota County, Florida.

An Army recruiter, Duyan was assigned to the Sarasota County public school district. He is accused of sexually abusing the student in August 2020.

Duyan allegedly picked up the teenager from a party, drove her home and raped her in his car before letting her out. The victim told the incident to her female classmate, 15, who then reported it to the school resource officer.

“I was like, I really don’t know what to do,” WFLA quoted the classmate as saying. “The girl is not sure what to do. She’s not sure she wants to come out with it.”

The Sarasota County Schools Police Department was notified of the incident and the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office started investigating in December 2020. The whistleblower and her older brother, 17, are both members of the junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program of Riverview High School.

According to the whistleblower, Duyan once sent her an inappropriate text message after a workout. In the text message, he allegedly told her that her “butt looked so nice in those leggings” and added that he “couldn’t stop staring.”

The Army recruiter also wanted to take the whistleblower out, according to her mother. He was arrested on February 22, 2021 by  Sarasota Sheriff’s Detectives, who believe that there could be more victims.

Held without bond, Duyan admitted to the accusations. He has been suspended from duty.

“Through our investigation, we determined this 17-year-old made contact with him off campus so from the sounds of it, he started to establish relationships and friendships with young students outside of school,” Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office public information officer Kaitlyn Perez said of Duyan in a statement obtained by SNNTV. “Students trusted him and unfortunately, he used that to his advantage.”

Perez told FOX 13 that U.S. Army officials stripped Duyan of his uniform as he was being taken into custody. He became an infantry soldier in April 2012.

Originally from Connecticut, USA, Duyan attended Ella T. Grasso Southeastern Technical High School in Groton, New London County, Connecticut from 2002 to 2006, , USA. From 2007 to 2012, he went to the University of Connecticut in Mansfield, Tolland County, Connecticut where he studied architecture and agricultural business technology.
