Courtney L. Davis, 23, of Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee, United States has been arrested. The African-American man was charged with three counts of felony aggravated assault.
On January 19, 2021, Davis parked his red Buick outside a convenience store in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department. That day, he allegedly exchanged shots with another group in the parking lot of a nearby Taco Bell.
Two innocent bystanders were injured during the shootout. One of them suffered a non-critical head wound.
Prior to the shootout, Davis was recorded by a surveillance camera buying drinks inside the convenience store. He was wearing black and white shoes, faded blue jeans, a white Adidas shirt and green jacket with the letters OFWGKTA written on the back.
OFWGKTA stands for Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All, the name of the hip hop collective formed in Los Angeles, California, USA in 2007. Also known as Odd Future or OF, the group has eight original members namely Tyler, the Creator, Hodgy, Left Brain, Casey Veggies, Brandun DeShay, Jasper Dolphin and the duo Matt Martians and Pyramid Vritra, collectively known as The Super 3.
The red Buick Davis was driving on January 19, 2021 was later found abandoned and impounded. Detectives from MNPD’s Hermitage Precinct and The Investigative Team Addressing Neighborhood Shootings (TITANS) searched for him for more than a month.
On March 2, 2021, the MNPD arrested Davis and he is expected to be returned from Memphis to Nashville. The detectives are still looking for the other individuals involved in the shootout.
Nashville is the capital city and the most populous city of Tennessee. Memphis is the second most populous city of the state.
Memphis is home to Tennessee’s largest African-American population. On April 4, 1968, Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis.
