Federico “Freddie” Guillermo Klein is an American man from Falls Church, Virginia, United States. His mother Cecilia Klein is a retired trade official and economist.

Aside from Falls Church, Freddie has lived in other parts of Virginia including Annandale and Alexandria. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for almost nine years.

From January 2017 to January 2021, Freddie served as one of the appointees of 45th U.S. president Donald Trump. Here are 13 more things about the former:

  1. From 1997 to 2002, he attended George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia where he earned his bachelor’s degree in political science. He was a member of the university’s rugby football club and Alpha Phi Omega fraternity.
  2. In 2005, he was deployed to Iraq as a combat engineer.
  3. He served as a campaign volunteer coordinator for John McCain and Sarah Palin in 2008, Frank Fannon in 2009, Dave Nutter in 2011, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan in 2012, Ken Cuccinelli in 2013 and Dan Donovan in 2015.
  4. From February 2012 to January 2015, he served as a legislative aide in Leesburg, Loudoun County, Virginia.
  5. In May 2013, he served as a Republican state convention delegate in Virginia for the 11th Congressional District.
  6. From August 2014 to July 2019, he held a top-secret clearance from the U.S. Department of Defense. It was renewed in 2019.
  7. From June 2015 to August 2015, he did unpaid volunteer work as a researcher for the conservative Family Research Council.
  8. In 2016, he worked as a tech analyst on Trump’s presidential campaign.
  9. On January 22, 2017, he was appointed to the U.S. State Department as a staff assistant with Trump’s transition team. He was transferred to the office that handles Freedom of Information Act requests after working in the department’s Office of Brazilian and Southern Cone Affairs.
  10. On January 6, 2021, he went to the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C., USA. Wearing a red Make America Great Again hat, a green jacket, a blue dress shirt and dark dress pants, he breached the building while a joint session of Congress was certifying the vote of the Electoral College and affirming Joe Bidens victory in the 2020 presidential election. Later that day, he changed into a red USMC hat. On January 19, 2021, he resigned from his U.S. State Department position.
  11. On March 4, 2021, Federal Bureau of Investigation agents arrested him in Virginia. He was he was held overnight at the central cell block at Metropolitan Police Headquarters in Washington, D.C. On March 5, 2021, he made his first court appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui.
  12. On July 20, 2023, U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden convicted him on civil disorder, obstruction of an official proceeding and six counts of assaulting, resisting or impeding police, which are felonies, and on four misdemeanor counts.
  13. He was 45 years old when McFadden sentenced him on November 3, 2023 to 70 months in prison and 24 months of supervised release. The judge also ordered him to pay $5,000 in fines and restitution.
