Pieter “The Archangel” Buist, 33, of Breda, North Brabant, Netherlands is one of the most promising mixed martial artists in ONE Championship‘s lightweight division, which is arguably the Singapore-based martial arts organization’s most stacked weight class. In his most recent fight, he lost to Timofey Nastyukhin, 31, of Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo Oblast, Russia.

Fighting professionally since October 21, 2012, Buist was undefeated from May 13, 2017 to October 29, 2020. On October 30, 2020, the Ghanaian-Dutch MMA fighter lost via unanimous decision to Nastyukhin at “ONE: Inside the Matrix 2” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore.

On April 14, 2021, Nastyukhin will go back to the Singapore Indoor Stadium to challenge reigning ONE Lightweight World Champion Christian “The Warrior” Lee, 22, of Singapore and the United States. They will headline “ONE on TNT 2.”

I asked Buist who he thought would win the “ONE on TNT 2” main event. He told me, “I really think Christian Lee will win the fight.”

“He’s more complete,” Buist said of the reigning ONE Lightweight World Champion. “But don’t underestimate Timofey because he’s on a roll and can surprise anybody.”

“I will watch this fight closely,” the Breda native continued. “Respect for both fighters and I will meet them soon inside the cage.”

Buist will also go back to the Singapore Indoor Stadium on April 28, 2021. He will fight Lowen Tynanes, 30, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, USA at “ONE on TNT 4.”

Like Buist, Tynanes is coming out of a loss. The Hawaiian MMA fighter suffered his first ever loss when he lost via split decision to former ONE Featherweight World Champion Marat “Cobra” Gafurov, 36, of Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia.

Tynanes currently holds a professional MMA record of 10 wins and 1 loss. Buist, who has 16 wins and 5 losses, defeated his first three ONE Championship opponents namely Kota “Genjin” Shimoishi, 33, of Osaka, Japan, Antonio “The Spartan” Caruso, 30, of Adelaide, South Australia, Australia and former ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, 37, of Baguio City, Philippines.
