Just before 1:30 p.m. of April 13, 2021, he was seen armed with a knife and a gun in the driveway of his family’s property next to the St. Mary’s County Board of Elections in Leonardtown near the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack in Leonardtown. Minutes after the Maryland State Police received two 911 calls about someone acting suspiciously, one white trooper responded. A witness saw him pointing the gun to the trooper. When the trooper wounded him by firing at him, he pulled out a knife and tried to get up, another witness said. The trooper ordered him to drop the knife before firing at him again. The gun he was holding was later determined to be an airsoft gun. He was rushed to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown where he was pronounced dead. (a) (b) (c)
