James Howard Jackson, 18, has been arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department. He was charged with assault with a semiautomatic firearm, a felon carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit robbery and second-degree robbery.
Jackson is accused of shooting Ryan Fischer, 40, on Sierra Bonita Avenue in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, United States on February 24, 2021. The latter is an assistant of Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, 35, who is professionally known as Lady Gaga.
That day, Fischer walked Gaga’s three French bulldogs on Sierra Bonita Avenue while she was in Rome, Italy shooting a movie. He was allegedly approached by Jackson, Lafayette Shon Whaley, 27, and Jaylin Keyshawn White, 19.
Two of the three dogs were stolen from Fischer by Jackson, Whaley and White. Jackson allegedly shot Fischer before fleeing the scene in a white four-door Nissan Altima with Whaley, White and the two stolen dogs.
“This was attempted murder,” Gaga’s father Joe Germanotta, 63, told Extra TV. “I hope they don’t let them back on the street.”
While still in Rome, Gaga offered $500,000 for the return of her two dogs. At around 6:00 p.m. on February 26, 2021, Jennifer McBride, 50, brought the dogs to the Olympic Community Police Station of the LAPD, Associated Press reported.
McBride is the girlfriend of White’s father Harold White, 40. She claimed that she found Gaga’s dogs tied to a pole.
Harold was charged with possession of a firearm and accessory after the fact. McBride was charged with receiving stolen property and accessory after the fact.
Jaylin was charged with assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury. Like Jackson, both Jaylin and Whaley were also charged with one count each of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit robbery and second-degree robbery.
On April 29, 2021, McBride, Harold, Jaylin, Jackson and Whaley pleaded not guilty. They are expected to appear in court on May 11, 2021.
