Jonathan Lincoln, 41, of Falls Church, Virginia, United States has been arrested. He was charged with two counts of assault and disorderly conduct.
Lincoln is accused of trying to stab a security guard at the DAR Al Hijrah Islamic Center, an open mosque in Falls Church, just before 3:00 p.m. on May 8, 2021. When Lincoln was leaving, he allegedly pointed a knife at several people.
Fortunately, nobody was injured. Lincoln left before police officers arrived at the mosque.

After Lincoln’s arrest, Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) urged mosques in the Washington, D.C., USA area to strengthen their security for activities taking place at the end of Ramadan. In a statement obtained by WTOP, CAIR research and advocacy coordinator Huzaifa Shabaz said, “We urge mosques and Islamic centers in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C., to enhance safety and security measures, particularly during activities associated with the end of the Ramadan fast.”
DAR Al Hijrah Islamic Center was founded by a group of mostly Arab university students in 1982. A dual citizen of the U.S. and Egypt, Shaker Elsayed has been the Imam of the mosque since June 1, 2005.
