Danny S. Parnell, 45, of Janesville, Wisconsin, United States has been arrested by the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Department. He was charged with aggravated unlawful restraint, aggravated kidnapping with a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm and unlawful use of a weapon.
Parnell is accused of holding a woman at gunpoint at a motel in the 2700 South block of US Route 45/52, which intersects with Illinois Route 17 in Kankakee, Kankakee County, Illinois, USA and Illinois Route 102 in Bourbonnais, Kankakee County. The woman, a former Kankakee County resident, lives in Sauk Village, Cook County, Illinois.
While bound at the ankles, the Sauk Village woman managed to escape, feel to another motel and call 911. Shortly after 4:00 a.m. on May 28, 2021, Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the motel where Parnell allegedly held the woman.
Along with Kankakee Police Department officers, the deputies found Parnell unconscious in the motel room where the alleged victim escaped from. He was arrested and transported to the Jerome Combs Detention Center in Kankakee.
It turned out Parnell was wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Wisconsin. During the incident, he allegedly fired a stolen firearm, which was recovered at the scene.
“My heart goes out to the victim in this case, who had a tremendous amount of courage to be able to escape and contact the police,” Kankakee County Sheriff Mike Downey stated. “I am grateful that our deputies, along with the Kankakee Police Department, were able to work so quickly to peacefully resolve such a dangerous situation and take Parnell into custody without incident.”
The Janesville man’s bond was set at $1,000,000. He is 5’10” tall and he weighs 215 lbs.
Aside from Janesville, Parnell has lived in other areas of Wisconsin including Milwaukee. He also previously lived in Illinois particularly in Kankakee and Bourbonnais.
Moreover, Parnell used to live in Jonesboro, Craighead County, Arkansas, USA. Detroit, Michigan, Wayne County, USA is one of his previous residences, as well.
