William Joseph Lara was an actor, musician, marksman, boxer, surfer and diver. He was married to The Weigh Down Workshop and Remnant Fellowship Church founder Gwen Shamblin Lara.

William was born in San Diego, California, United States. He grew up in New Port Beach, California but later moved to Los Angeles, California.

As an actor, William was known as Joe Lara and he worked on locations in different countries including Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Mexico, the Philippines and the United States. Here are 13 more things about him:

He starred in the films “Gunsmoke: The Last Apache” in 1990, “Sunset Heat” and “The Presence” in 1992, “American Cyborg: Steel Warrior” in 1993, “Final Equinox” in 1995, “Warhead” in 1996, “Operation Delta Force” in 1997, “Armstrong” in 1998 and “Operation Delta Force 4: Deep Fault” in 1999.
  4. He played Tarzan in “Tarzan in Manhattan,” a television movie released in 1989. He played Tarzan again in “Tarzan: The Epic Adventures,” a TV movie released in 1996. From 1996 to 2000, he played Tarzan/John Clayton in the TV series “Tarzan: The Epic Adventures.”
  5. In 1993, he appeared as Devon Madsen in the “Tropical Heat” episode “Tess” and as Frank Randall in the “Baywatch” episode “Tentacles: Part 2.” In 1998, he played Kamikon in the “Conan” episode “The Cavern.”
  6. In 2000, he played Pace McCormick in the TV series “The Magnificent Seven” and starred in the films “Very Mean Men” and “Doomsdayer.” In 2001, he starred in the films “Dead Man’s Run” and “Death Game.”

  9. He and his former girlfriend Natasha Pavlovich lived in Brentwood, Williamson County, Tennessee, USA. They have a daughter named Liana C. Lara.   12. On May 29, 2021, he and Gwen were on their plane, a Cessna C501, with Brandon HannahDavin L. Martin, Jennifer J. Martin, Jonathan Walters and Jessica Walters, who all had ties to the Remnant Fellowship Church. The plane crashed into the waters of  the Percy Priest Lake in Tennessee. In the evening, he and the other six passengers were presumed dead. (e)
