Anderson “The Spider” Silva, 46, of Brazil and the United States is currently training for his boxing comeback. After leaving the Ultimate Fighting Championship in November 2020, the mixed martial arts legend is set to fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., 35, of Mexico.
Titled “Chavez Jr. vs. Silva – Tribute to the Kings,” the boxing event will take place at the Estadio Jalisco in Guadalajara, Mexico. This marks the first time Silva is fighting outside the octagon since 2006.
Silva will fight on the same card that sees the legendary Julio Cesar “El César del Boxeo” Chavez Sr., 58, of Mexico take on Hector “Machito” Camacho, Jr., 42, of Puerto Rico in a special boxing exhibition. Also on the card is the trilogy match between Omar “Terremoto” Chavez, 32, of Mexico and Ramon “Inocente” Alvarez, 34, of Mexico.
On June 25, 1997, Silva made his professional MMA debut. He competed in the UFC from 2006 to 2020 and was the UFC Middleweight Champion from October 14, 2006 to July 5, 2013.
When Silva made his professional boxing debut on May 22, 1998, he lost to Osmar Luiz “Animal” Teixeira, 53, of Brazil. On August 5, 2005, Silva earned his first professional boxing win by knockout out Julio Cesar de Jesus of Brazil.
