Killeen, Texas’s De’ondre White shot Douglas Kantor? Jeremiah Tabb cleared

De’Ondre Jermirris White, 19, of Killeen, Bell County, Texas, United States has been arrested by the Austin Police Department. He will be charged with murder.

White is accused of fatally shooting Douglas John Kantor, 25, of Airmont, Rockland County, New York, USA in Austin, Travis County, Texas on June 12, 2021. At around 1:25 a.m. that day, Kantor, Jessica Ramirez, 34, and 13 others were shot when two groups of people exchanged gunshots on East 6th Street in Austin.

Jeremiah Roshaun Leland James Tabb, 17, and White were part of one of the group. A male suspect, 15, who was part of the other group, was arrested later that day.

The Austin Police Department interviewed White after the shooting then released him. When he went back to Killeen, he changed his appearance, cut and dyed his hair and went into hiding.


On June 14, 2021, with the help of the Killeen Independent School District Police Department, the Austin Police Department arrested Jeremiah Roshaun Leland James Tabb, 17, in Killeen. After analyzing ballistic evidence and surveillance camera footage, investigators believe White fired the shots that killed Kantor.

According to Tabb, White pulled out a black Glock 9mm and fired multiple rounds at the other group on the day of the shooting. This was corroborated by evidence collected from the crime scene.

Charges against the 15-year-old suspect and Tabb were dropped. On June 22, 2021, Travis County District Attorney José Garza explained, “There is not sufficient evidence that either of these gentlemen fired a shot.”

On June 24, 2021, White was arrested without incident by the U.S. Marshals Service‘s Lone Star Fugitive Task Force on Anna Lee Drive in Killeen with the help of the Killeen Police Department‘s Specialized Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team. He was booked into the Killeen City Jail on Community Boulevard in Killeen and his bond was set at $1 million.
