  2. In 2009, he pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing a firearm while under the influence of alcohol. He was accused of pointing a shotgun at one of his roommates while he was drunk. The Arvada Police Department in Arvada, Colorado arrested him and charged him with menacing, which was eventually dismissed. (b) (c)
  3. He worked construction when he pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing a firearm in 2009. (b)
  4. In 2018, he joined the Aurora Police Department (APD). (b) (c)
  5. On July 23, 2021, he and his fellow APD officer Francine Martinez, then 40, were sent to investigate a trespassing report on South Parker Road in Aurora and encountered Calvin Stevenson, then 45, Anthony Sano, then 41, and Kyle Maurice Vinson, then 29, who each had an outstanding felony warrant out of Denver, Colorado.   6. On July 26, 2021, arrest warrants were issued for him and Martinez stemming from them arresting Vinson on July 23, 2021. That day, he was released after turning himself in and posting $50,000 bond. (d) (e)

  8. After his arrest on July 26, 2021, his lawyer Reid Elkus said they would be zealously defending him. (a)
  9. On July 27, 2021, body camera footage of the arrest he and Martinez made on July 23, 2021 were played during a news conference. It showed how he beat Vinson with his duty pistol, choked the arrestee and threatened to kill the arrestee even though the arrestee never attempted to hurt or threaten him and Martinez. (c) (d)
  10. In connection to the violent arrest on July 23, 2021, he was charged with attempted first-degree assault, second-degree assault, menacing, official oppression and official misconduct.   1. How can a police department hire a rotten blue apple with this kind of background? Isn’t it obvious he has issues, at the least anger issues? What does that say of the other Aurora Police Officers? I, seriously sick that PoS like this give other hard working Blues a hard task to keep or gain the public’s trust. Time for police reform cleaning up any officer with criminal backgrounds.

    • no Amanda, I grew up with John, and he was an Iraq war in 2003. However what he did recently was uncalled for! His mom passed away when he was 13 that affecting him a lot!! However, not all cops are bad!!

    • Hey amanda, I grew up with John he made a mistake a huge one. Not all cops are bad he was in iraq war in 2013 and he lost his mom when he was 13 affected him a lot!! However, I know his family pretty well, so please don’t treat his other family members bad just because of this situation thank you!! We need to pray for John and that he needs to turn back to Jesus!! I have not since him since 2015 when I helped him move!!

  2. Why are you defending his actions? He was evil, conciously evil… intentionally evil. He may have been in war, but why did he apply as a police officer when he has PTSD? (IF he had PTSD).
    He is an evil and dangerous man, you may ask him to turn back to Jesus, but he still deserves to be locked up for YEARS and lose most of his close friends should turn their back on him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is some kind of neo nazi, white supremacist or part of some pro-Trump executioner police gang.
