Alexander Thomas, 30, of Nebraska, United States has been arrested. On September 7, 2021, prosecutors in Sarpy County, Nebraska filed a criminal complaint naming him as a defendant charged with two counts of third-degree sexual assault of a child.
Thomas used to work as a coach at Metro Stars Gymnastics in Papillion, Sarpy County. He was arrested on September 8, 2021.
Between January 1, 2021 and February 1, 2021, Thomas allegedly sexually assaulted a child aged 14 or younger at the Papillion location of Metro Stars Gymnastics. After his arrest, the gym urged its clients’ families to contact the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office if they had any concerning information to report.
“As an organization that champions the safe and healthy growth and development of children, we couldn’t have harder news to report,” Metro Stars Gymnastics told the families through an email message obtained by KETV. “At this time, we know nothing beyond the information available publicly.”
Metro Stars Gymnastics is a child-centered gymnastics facility that specializes in preschool and recreational gymnastics classes, which teach children about social interaction, refine their gross motor skills, encourage them to try new and difficult tasks and serve to build their self esteem. The classes were designed by Elizabeth Lilla, who holds a doctorate degree in occupational therapy.
Lilla and Erik Lilla founded Metro Stars Gymnastics in 2006. The gym has two locations, which are in Elkhorn, Omaha, Nebraska and in Papillion.
Papillion is divided into four wards and two councilmembers are elected from each ward. Every two years, one seat for each ward is up for election and with each term lasts four years.
Elected at-large to four-year terms, the head of Papillion’s city council serves as the mayor. Its incumbent mayor is David P. Black.
